FERAL INCOMING!!!! An Upset Boy With A Painful Ear Polyp (#645)

Hey everyone,

A few weeks ago we got a call from a woman about her backyard feral, saying her boy wasn't doing well and that he had some kind of damage to the left side of his head.

The woman said she was worried and asked if we could come and trap him and get him to the vet.

After trapping him, we realized that there was a problem with his ear and that whatever it was he was not happy about it.

It turns out he had a very painful polyp growing in his ear and that it needed to be removed.

Luckily the polyp was benign, but he would need to be held for a week until his ear healed.

The big boy is now hold up in the intake room, enjoying the A/C and unlimited food until he heals up.

He may look sweet, but no pets for this man unless you want trouble!

I think he wants to go home!!!!

FERAL INCOMING!!!! A Sweet Girl Just In For A Spay And Release (#644)

Hey everyone, this little girl just came in earlier this week and has already been to the vet to get her shots and has been spayed.

She belongs to a colony of cats that we had TNR'd a few years ago, and the person who takes care of them lets us know when someone new shows up so we can help them out before they – for lack of a better term - get knocked up!

She is doing just fine and seems very sweet, and we would attempt to socialize her, but the person who watches the colony said she would be missed if we kept her.

So little miss here will get some good rest, stay out of the heat, and get fattened up for a few days, and then she will rejoin her friends.

She's such a sweetie!

FERAL INCOMING!!!! 2 Beautiful Orange And White Beauties For July 4th! (642-643)

Happy 4th of July EVERYONE!

This brother and sister duo showed up a couple of days ago just in time for the fireworks and festivities.

Their story is actually quite sad though.

They were trapped and fixed but never released and remained in small cages separately for months until someone finally asked if we would socialize them.

Though we have a full house with the whole mess o' kittens we are presently socializing we couldn't say no to this pair.

When they got here there was no touching them.

They were terrified and you could literally see their skin tense and shiver every time we touched them.

They never hissed or growled or lashed out they just were unbelievably scared and unused to human touch...

It's been a few days now and after letting them get used to us giving them food and water and changing out their cages we have moved the two into the intake room where they can finally stretch their legs and lay out in the sun and sleep in a cat tree if they want.

It seems to have taken the edge off and they seem to be coming around.

Here are some pictures we just took and they seem much more relaxed and even let us pet them without any fear...

FERAL KITTEN INCOMING!!!! 4 Kittens And A Mama For Father's Day! (637-641)

They all got the sniffles and goopy eyes!

Kitten season is starting off with a bang this year.

It was quiet for a week or two but no more.

Our shelter is quickly filling up with adorable but homeless kittens.

Check out these poor babies who have terrible upper respiratory infections and infected eyes to boot...

The mama is in good shape but once again is very feral like the last two moms.

For now, the little ones are on Clavamox for their respiratory infection and Terramycin for the eye goobers.

It will be a few weeks before they are infection free so it's into the intake room away from the other babies for now.

Once all their symptoms are cleared up and they get a bill of clean health from the vet they can move to the big room with the rest of the gang.

Here are one more pictures of the little ones and their mama...

FERAL KITTEN INCOMING!!!! We Got Ourselves 4 Black And White Babies And Their Beautiful – But Crosseyed – Mama! (632-636)

Our number one pro-trapper Donna got word that there were four babies and a mama hiding in a dirt alcove behind a junkyard and flew into action.

In just two days she got all of them and got them to our shelter!

The mama is very feral but amazingly her babies are all friendly and can be picked up and handled with no problem.

We are treating everyone for worms and fleas at this point and feeding them as much as they want.

We will reaccess the mama in the coming weeks but these babies are going to be ready for adoption as soon as they are old enough to be spayed and neutered.

Here are pictures of the family settling into their new digs...

INCOMING! Mama With Calico & Grey Kittens (Ferals # 629-631)

This adorable family was trapped in Riverhead.

The mama is very feral and her two kittens are plenty spicey!...

Lookit this grey girl protecting her sister and her mama!...

We have been handling the kittens as much as we can to try to get them accustomed to human touch...

We will try to see if the mama is a candidate for socialization after she relaxes for a day or two and realizes we are no threat to her or her family.

The grey girl seems to be coming along nicely... Just look at that face!...

*FERAL INCOMING!!!! 4 Girls And 2 Boys Just Got Dropped Off (# 623-628)

We got six new guests into the shelter yesterday and today, all in need of some food, relaxation, and vet visits.

All but two come from different locations.

These two sisters came in together and one of them is totally sweet and will absolutely be a candidate for adoption...

Her sister also seems sweet but a little stand-offish...

This poor girl is sooooo scared...

This one will take a day or two to figure out, but we have some good body language going on here...

The grey and white...

and the orange...

are the only boys and they can't wait to get outta here!!!!!

Updates to come 😻
