FERAL INCOMING!!!! Another Frightened And Chilly Man Comes In From The Cold (#658)

This poor man came in last week for evaluation during the cold snap.

He cowered in the corner for days.

Sadly he was not a feral, just very, very scared.

We were able to discern this because he is fully grown, not emaciated, and unneutered.

If he were feral, he would be hissing and spitting and tearing the cage to bits wanting to get back outside.

Also, his coat would be dull and rough and he would have scars from fights and ragged ears from bites.

Yet, his fur is soft and his only wound is an abrasion on his nose from trying to get out of the trap.

And on the third day here this sweet boy let us pet him and did not protest in the slightest!

Those are the sad telltale signs of a cat who has been dumped.

He is scheduled to be neutered tomorrow, and then when he comes back and we're going to work non-stop on socializing him so he can find a forever home as quickly as possible.

This boy will not get dumped out in the cold ever again.

FERAL INCOMING!!!! A Sweet Little Man Who Had A Rough Time During The Cold Snap (#657)

We just got in a sweet little black cat that was so traumatized by the blast of freezing arctic air that hit us last week that I actually thought he was BLIND!

He did not move when I opened his cage.

He did not react when I put his food down.

He did not even notice when I took his picture.

From the looks of his eyes, I began to think he couldn't see us.

After about three days, he finally seemed to snap out of whatever state he was in – I think he was just overwhelmed to be out of the cold – and he began talking and actually demanding to be pet.

By the fourth day, we were picking him up and holding him, and he was wolfing down whole cans of food.

It turns out his eyes may have been the result of damage from the severe cold weather mixed with an eye infection.

So he's going to stay with us for a few more days to heal up and get his eyes back in working order and then be put up for adoption because he's a mush!

Here are a few extra pics of the sweet boy.

No more cold nights for this little man!
