FERAL KITTEN INCOMING!!!! Four New Winter Kittens! (#668-671)

Lynn, Lamar, Zero, and Pandora ðŸ˜»

Hi All!

Just as soon as our last batch of beautiful kittens go up for adoption, we have taken in four new lovelies.

Last week, we were contacted through our Facebook page by trapper extraordinaire – and college student! – Jasmine Papik, who asked if we could help with some winter kittens she had caught.

We were totally up for it as it is always wonderful to meet new people who share the same passion for saving animals, and helping share the load is part of what makes the TNR and cat rescue community work.

After exchanging information and squaring away paperwork, Jasmine delivered the above beauties to us!

They are truly a special bunch of kittens with personalities as big as the world.

The two grey-striped kittens are Lynn and Lamar, and the two black kittens are Pandora and Zero.

We are all just getting used to each other at this point and plying them with lots of treats!

Updates to come!

And a big thank you to Jasmine for trusting us with your babies!

CUTENESS OVERLOAD! Kittens Turn Up The Cuteness To ELEVEN! #KneadyKittens

A few weeks ago, we took in three mini, teeny, tiny kittens from a friend after a shelter had told her to put them back out into the woods, claiming a "lack of space."

We couldn't believe this was their advice to our friend after we saw just how small they were.

They wouldn't have made it.

Two weeks later, despite monstrous appetites, they are still a wee bunch of kitties!

One thing they do not lack thought is the CUTE!

They are nonstop balls of fury, stopping only to eat, sleep, and exude cuteness!

As I work the night shift, I was going in to feed the little ones their 3 am feeding when I came upon a sight so adorable I thought I was gonna plotz.

It was all three of them lined up in a row, making the breads, and suckling on their favorite bed.

It was too much!

I give to you CUTENESS OVERLOAD!

Although it is beyond cute, it is also sad as their actions definitively show they were separated from their mother way too soon.

That being said, they are feisty, snuggly, and intelligent and have seemed to have suffered no ill effects from being weened too early.

They are going to make someone the best additions to their family.

FERAL KITTEN INCOMING!!!! This Is Just Heartbreaking! (#665-667)

Hey Everyone,

Last week, we were contacted by an acquaintance who informed us that they had approached a local shelter – which shall remain unnamed – about three six-week-old babies they had found on their property.

They said the mother of the kittens had been taken in by a neighbor, but she had been left with the babies.

As she traveled for work, she could not take care of them and went to the shelter to give them these three little kittens who would have been adopted in an instant.

To her horror, the shelter refused to accept them and said they to go take them to the woods and...

"leave the kittens outside on their own."

Stunned, our friend called us, recounted the story, and asked if we could help.

We said, "No problem," and to bring them right over.

Not only are these kittens sweet and absolute mushes, but they are even smaller than we expected.

Despite being healthy, there is no chance these little ones would have made it through November without their mother!

We will be caring for these little people until they are old enough to be spayed and/or neutered, and when the time is right, we will work with our friends over at the North Fork Animal Welfare League to get them into their forever homes.

As for the unnamed shelter, we will be calling them this week – not to yell at them – but instead to try to begin a relationship with them so that if this ever happens again, they know they can call us, and we will help those they cannot care for.

Meanwhile, here are some more pictures of these sweet babies...

They's so tiny they fit in a water cup!!!!!!!

FERAL KITTEN UPDATE! Our Two Little Rambunctious Girls Are Ready For A Forever Home!

Getting some well deserved treats!!!!!

Well, it appears that plying these two beauties with pasta has done the trick.

They both have come so far so quickly.

When they arrived here there was no touching them, giving them treats, or even just looking at them directly in the eye!

They just wanted to be left alone.

But after three weeks of our talking to them, blinking sessions (yes, it's a thing), speaking softly to them, singing terribly to them, and eventually petting them, they broke through their apprehensions.

They are now a wonderful bonded pair who are ready to find someone to give them a home and lots of love.

We promise they will give it back... Just check out the video below for proof!

FERAL KITTEN BREAKTHROUGH! Kittens Tamed By Pasta... Really! (VIDEO)

We've made a breakthrough with these two little feral kittens and it didn't come about the way I predicted.

After dinner one night I was cleaning up the dishes and noticed we had a little angel hair pasta left.

We have one cat of our own that LOVES pasta so I figured why not see if I could get the girls interested in perhaps playing with it at the very least.

So I took a clump of noodles and put them on the floor and lo and behold the kittehs started carbing up!

I was able to pet them, talk to them, film them, and ever since then they seem to have mellowed out a ton.

I couldn't tell you why, LOL!

Here is a quick highlight reel of the girls having fun with noodles!

FERAL KITTEN INCOMING!!!! Who Knew They Made Kittens This Ornery?!?! (#663-664)

Pearl and Boots... Lookit that BIG foot!

Hey Everyone,

We just got in two new kittens for socialization and they are a tough and spicy pair!

The problem we have here is that they appear to be a couple of weeks older than the previous babies we had and that means they could be more set in their ways.

They are completely healthy and not a flea on 'em... They are just VERY anti-social.

So, as it usually goes, we're going to keep them in the cage so they can be pet without having to chase them down which only freaks them out.

The other step is food, treats, and toys all the time!

Depending on how it plays out in the next few days we can let them out if they can be handled without too much drama.

Keep your fingers crossed, I fear these two are a tough pair!

Updates to come.

FERAL KITTEN UPDATE! These Two Cranky Little Kitties Are No Longer Cranky… They Are Love Muffins! ❤️ (VIDEO)

When these two babies came in, we really thought they were going to be a problem because they were put out and mean-mugging us all day long!

Much to our surprise and delight, they came around quickly and now love to be pet, belly rubbed, and they nuzzle into your neck and turn into purr machines the second you pick them up.

Here is a video of the two playing and being petted...

It is a beautiful thing to see happen when the switch flips, and they understand you are only there to help and love them.

They are totally ready for their furever homes and are presently residing at the North Fork Animal Welfare League if you are interested in adopting them... Thell them AFAR sent you ❤️

FERAL KITTEN INCOMING!!!! Oh, They Look Cute, But These Two Are Cranky, Cranky, Cranky! (#661-662)

Hey all,

We have received two new adorable black kittens in the shelter this week... And boy, are they nonplussed!

In other words, they are ornery, cranky, crotchety, cantankerous, and ill-tempered!

Who knew something this cute could be so grumpy?

That being said, they are in tip-top shape with no colds, worms, or fleas... It's a miracle!

So it is time for some top-of-the-line spoiling with treats, catnip mice, playing with string, red laser dot races, and then some more treats.

Here are a few more pictures I was able to take before they shot me the stink-eye and shooed me away (check out the one with the French tip manicure!!!!!)...

Updates to come!

FERAL KITTEN INCOMING!!!! A Couple Of Goopy-Eyed Bad Boys! (#659-660)

Hey, ya’ll,

It’s been a minute, but we’re back.

Today we have two sweet boys – both very feral – who have terrible cases of upper repertory infections as well as some goopy eyes.

These kittens were found in a group of 5, all abandoned in a local woman’s backyard.

These two were apparently the “bad boys” of the bunch, so we were selected to socialize them.

To be honest, they are fakers and are quickly becoming little cuddlers.

We are presently treating both of them while they enjoy a little quarantine time in the intake room before they can mix with gen-pop.

Here are some pictures we took in the morning before we gave them their medications, and they already look a thousand times better, so everything is headed in the right direction!

Updates to come.

FERAL INCOMING!!!! Another Frightened And Chilly Man Comes In From The Cold (#658)

This poor man came in last week for evaluation during the cold snap.

He cowered in the corner for days.

Sadly he was not a feral, just very, very scared.

We were able to discern this because he is fully grown, not emaciated, and unneutered.

If he were feral, he would be hissing and spitting and tearing the cage to bits wanting to get back outside.

Also, his coat would be dull and rough and he would have scars from fights and ragged ears from bites.

Yet, his fur is soft and his only wound is an abrasion on his nose from trying to get out of the trap.

And on the third day here this sweet boy let us pet him and did not protest in the slightest!

Those are the sad telltale signs of a cat who has been dumped.

He is scheduled to be neutered tomorrow, and then when he comes back and we're going to work non-stop on socializing him so he can find a forever home as quickly as possible.

This boy will not get dumped out in the cold ever again.

FERAL INCOMING!!!! A Sweet Little Man Who Had A Rough Time During The Cold Snap (#657)

We just got in a sweet little black cat that was so traumatized by the blast of freezing arctic air that hit us last week that I actually thought he was BLIND!

He did not move when I opened his cage.

He did not react when I put his food down.

He did not even notice when I took his picture.

From the looks of his eyes, I began to think he couldn't see us.

After about three days, he finally seemed to snap out of whatever state he was in – I think he was just overwhelmed to be out of the cold – and he began talking and actually demanding to be pet.

By the fourth day, we were picking him up and holding him, and he was wolfing down whole cans of food.

It turns out his eyes may have been the result of damage from the severe cold weather mixed with an eye infection.

So he's going to stay with us for a few more days to heal up and get his eyes back in working order and then be put up for adoption because he's a mush!

Here are a few extra pics of the sweet boy.

No more cold nights for this little man!
